Rødvig Kulekalkmørtel (Rødvig Slaked Lime Mortar)
This type of mortar is used and mixed on site by many masons. This can highly be recommended because we think that it is important that masons become familiar with the various mixing methods and, at the same time, become familiar with the raw products used in the mortars they work with.

Slaked lime mortar is mixed using cubic measurements, f. ex. 1 measure of well-matured slaked lime to 3 measures of suitable sand. It is a good idea to mix the mortar some weeks before intending to use it. In this way the mortar will be more coherent.

Our firm Skandinavisk Jura-Kalk A/S mixes slaked lime mortar 1:3 with grain curves of (0.0 - 0.3), (0.0 - 1.0), (0.0 - 2.2), (0.0 - 5.0) or make up special orders if requested.

The components we use are Rødvig kulekalk (Rødvig Slaked Lime) and quartz sand of different grain sizes. Mixtures are mixed after weight and are weighed into 20- liter bags or 1/2 m³ in a box.

Slaked lime mortar must be stored frost-free and must not dry out (must be kept damp). Before use, the mortar must be activated in a compulsory mixer with a suitable amount of water for approx. 5-10 minutes.

If the slaked lime mortar is mixed with Jurassic mortar then the mixing time is approx. 15-20 min.

Our 20-liter bags of slaked lime mortar correspond to our 20-liter bags of Jurassic mortar so, if you need to mix in the ratio 1:1:6, the same number of bags are mixed together. If the ratio is 2:1:9, 2 bags of slaked lime mortar are mixed with 1 bag of Jurassic mortar, or for ratio 1:2:9 then 1 bag of slaked lime mortar is mixed with 2 bags of Jurassic mortar.

Slaked lime mortar is mixed well ahead of the time it is to be used, which ensures a quality mortar. So if you during the planning phase of a task place an order for the type and the amount to be used, we can mix the required amount and supply it straight away.
